A brief history of what we call scones. You are on of a light brown color, and they have a light and soft crumb, and they are similar to a biscuit. There are several variants from Scotland, Germany, and do not forget the Dutch. Here is a recipe that I put together for you to try. They are very nice, if you have a chocolate, raspberry and lovers like me.
Chocolate Raspberry Scones
All 2 cups flour
1 / 3 cup sugar
1Teaspoons baking powder
1 / 2 teaspoon baking powder
1 / 2 teaspoon salt
3 ounces butter, cut into pieces
1 / 2 cup dark chocolate chips
1 / 2 cup milk chocolate chips
1 / 2 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 cup raspberries
1 large egg, lightly beaten
Egg Wash
2 tablespoons milk
1 large egg
They are initially Preheat oven to 375f. Then you willfirst Whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Make sure that you do not get the measurements back to the baking soda and baking powder. Trust me it is a very bad taste butter cookies, if you do too. It is more like a raspberry chocolate brick.
You will then begin in the butter into the flour mixture with a pastry blender if you have one or a food processor with a dough blade will cut its work so well. If you do not, you can eithertwo knives or a fork until crumbly. You will then add your chocolate chips into the batter mix and give it a light touch.
In a small bowl, you will then add the milk, vanilla bean paste, and the slightly beaten egg. One thing you have given the liquid mixture a little stir will begin the liquid mixture to the flour mixture and mix well add until the dough should only come into being. Not about the work or batter mix it, we will not rise during baking, the butter cookies properly if you do too.The shortbread is very tight, if this is the case.
You can knead the mixture is crumbly dough and very gently on a lightly floured surface 3 to 5 times or until it comes together. You will then pat the dough into a circle that is about 1 cm thick. They will then cut your scones into the desired shape. You can use a round cookie cutter or a metal ring design, or squares if you prefer.
They will then place the scones on a lightly greased baking sheet or one that was willingwith a Teflon spray. Make the egg wash and brush the tops with this mixture you will be on some regular sugar and bake.
The baking time is approximately 10 minutes and then 180 degrees and then another 10 minutes. The total cooking time takes about 20 minutes or until golden brown. Take you remove cookies from the oven and cool on a wire rack. Once cooled, you can add to raspberries for garnish, sprinkled with a little sugar. These aredelicious.
